Resist attempt by selfish elite to undermine Nigeria interest – Sultan.

By;  Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Saad Abubakar III Tuesday tasked Nigerians to resist attempt by a few group of selfish elites in the country to undermine the interest of Nigeria as a  country.

Sultan Abubakar stated this during his installation as the Chancellor of the University of Ibadan at the grand finale of the 67th foundation ceremony of the university.

He pointed out that the time has come for Nigerians to resolve to work for real and sustainable peace, and stand against those breeding hatred.

The Sultan emphasized the need for the Institution’s Center for Peace and Conflict Research to conduct a Peace and Intervention project which can breed and nurture peace ‎in the country.

Speaking further, the Sultan urged Nigerians to ensure that the dreams of founding fathers of Nigeria do not die by forging a formidable force against those he described as disgruntled elites alleged of festering embers of disunity among various groups in the country.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University and now Minister of Health, Professor  Isaac Adewole urged President Muhammadu Buhari ‎to give special rehabilitation fund to UI to be able to compete globally.

Speaking through the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Ambrose Aiyelari, he stressed that such funds should be spread over a period of five years to put University of Ibadan tops among high ranking universities and a brand in Nigeria
