Kaduna Electric is intensifying efforts in getting electricity from other sources other than the national grid.
The Company’s Head of Compliance, Engr. Lawal Lawal made this disclosure during the Customer Consultative Forum held in Kaduna.
According to him, the move was necessitated by the current generation capacity of Generation Companies of Nigeria (GENCOs) which he said is not enough. He added that as part of efforts to augment the allocation the company receives from the national grid, it has begun talks with other companies for solar and wind sources.
On other efforts the company is making to ensure that the customers are equitably billed, Engr. Lawal said the company has invested hugely on the procurement of meters which he said has passed a rigorous process before they are certified as fit for installation adding that the company has gone further by digitally mapping its customers in order to shorten the complaints resolution turnaround time.
He lamented the rate at which the smart meters are being compromised, a situation he described as sabotaging the efforts of the company.
He therefore called on the public to be the company’s whistleblowers on all forms of illegal act stressing that both customers and the company will benefit from it.
The Chief Marketing and Customer Services Officer, Mal. Murtala Bello, in his good will message reiterated that the customer is the backbone of the business and a major stakeholder in the value chain.
“Given the role of the customer in this business, we see you as partners in progress whose support we need to work together as a team. There are misconceptions about our operations that need to be corrected and this is what an interactive session such as hopes to address”, he said.
The high point of the event was the cutting of the cake by the customers, the company’s way of appreciating their loyalty and continued support.
The event which took place at NUT Endwell Centre, Mogadishu Layout, had some community leaders in attendance, notable among them were the representatives of Nigerian Electricity Regulations Commission (NERC), Printers Association Nigeria and Timbers Association of Nigeria among so many others.
