The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd) has foreclosed the likelihood of his appearance at the Senate tomorrow.
According to the CGC, the controversy over his failure to appear before the Senate in Customs uniform as demanded by the lawmakers has taken a legal dimesion.
Ali who was seen at the Presidential Villa Tuesday evening told State House Correspondents that the court has already ordered that the status quo ante should be maintained until the case is decided.
The Senate last week turned the Customs boss back for failure to appear in uniform before the senate which had summoned him over a proposed policy on vehicle duty.
“The case is in court already. Somebody has sued us. It is subjudice. I have gotten my writ of summons and they said status quo ante should remain until the court makes a pronouncement.
“A private individual sued all of us. He wants an interpretation of the section that is in contention. I don’t want to talk so that I am not held in contempt of court,” Ali told the correspondents.
