Union Bank mourns Ogunlade
By; Ayo Ojedokun, Lagos.
The Management of Union Bank Sports Club has condoled with the family of late Azeez Ogunlade over the untimely death of the young player who died in Lagos after a brief illness.
Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Babatunde Popoola while sympathizing with the family described the demise of Azeez as a big loss not only to the Union Bank table tennis club where he plays regularly until his death but to the entire Nigeria table tennis family and Africa in general.
“I am saddened by the news of his death which came to me while I was in South Africa”.I am yet to overcome the shock because I least expected a young and vibrant player like that to be snatched away from us by the cold hands of death just like that.
“I am indeed sad because Azeez Ogunlade, who had represented Nigeria at the international level in both cadet and junior levels as player, was until his death a vibrant, energetic and consistent player with Union Bank table tennis club and that placed him at the number two position in the team.
Born in August 1995 in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Azeez Ogunlade’s last international assignment with the Stallion team was in July this year at the ITTF sanctioned African Senior table tennis classics.
