The National Assembly has been advised to stick to its promise of passing that 2017 budget before the first quarter of the year so as to stimulate the ailing economy.

The advise was given by the former Secretary General of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, who doubles  as the General Overseer of Victory Christian Chapel International Incorporated, Rev.(Dr) Etim Ekpatt, while speaking in an exclusive interview with the New Nigerian online.

It would be recalled that the Senate President, Senator Olusola Saraki, had promised that the 2017 budget would be passed into law in the first quarter of the year.

Etim who assessed the performance of the committee’s work as “so far so good thanked God for the attention the budget is receiving. Thank God we have not heard so much about padding this year. I think and I want to suggest that the Federal budget should get to the National Assembly on time so that they too can take their time to do a better job on the document”.

He commended the National Assembly for a job well done and urged them to fast track its passage so as to stimulate and assist the economy to recover quick.

Etim while answering another question, commended the governor of Central Bank, Mr. Godwin Emefile for pegging the sale of Naira at #360 per dollar in all the banks in the country.

This new policy, he said, is highly commanded and appealed for its full implementation and monitoring. This policy will help stabilise the Naira even when there are “dollar mafia” forces fighting the system.

He called on the federal government to inject more funds into the economy as this will create opportunity for jobs as contractors move to their different sites.

Etim appealed to Nigerians to have hope for the recovery of the economy because “God is a Nigerian. There is God in Nigeria. What has happened could have destroyed the country but for the prayers of few Saints that has kept the country together”.

He called for prayers for our leaders for grace for governance so that the economy will bounce back, “many strategies have failed, but God’s factor has never failed”.

Etim cautioned against the rampant and persistent killings across the country and said “enough is enough. Federal government should rise up and address the problem of insecurity once and for all”.
