Shittu is “not Oke-Ogun Minister, but, that of Oyo state” – Ajimobi
BY; BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi Friday in Ibadan said the new Communication Minister Barrister Adebayo Shittu is not Oke-Ogun Minister, but, that of Oyo state  as a whole.
The governor said this while receiving the Minister in his office and lauded Barrister Shittu for his carriage since his nomination by being conscious of the political antics of some people, who had wanted to diminish his political stature by tending to describe him as ‘Oke-Ogun Minister’, but not allowing such people to derail him.
“You are not Oke-Ogun Minister, but, that of Oyo State which comprises Oke-Ogun, Isale Ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ibadan, Ibarapa and all other areas. And I commend your understanding and maturity by not allowing such people to derail you” he said.
Governor Ajimobi while congratulating the new Minister commended him for his brilliant performance at the Senate screening which he said was to the admiration of the state. He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour done the state by the appointment of the Minister as well as assigning him a strategic position.
Speaking, the Minister said he is determined to ensure that he gives the state a very good representation being the first person to be appointed a substantive Minister from the state since the beginning of this democratic dispensation in 1999.
Barrister Shittu stressed that the Ministry of Communication which he had been assigned to could be made a cash-cow for the country if properly explored and that he would do all within his power and ability to actualize ‎his dream.
“I thank the people of the state for their support and more importantly that of my brother and leader, the governor of the state and to pledge before him now that I would be his ears and eyes in the seat of power towards ensuring that our state gets its due in everything”, he said.
Earlier in a chat with journalists at the Alakia, Ibadan Airport on his first official visit to Oyo state after his inauguration in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister said he would set up Ministerial Constituency Office in Ibadan, the state capital‎ as a way of truly bringing government nearer to the people and to give the people of the state sense of belonging.
Barrister Shittu who was received by tumultuous crowd of supporters, political associates and well-wishers‎ declared that the new office would afford the people of the state to reach him and the seat of power, and to ensure that the needs of the people are attended to with dispatch.
