Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Tuesday described Chief Uche Secondus,
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairmanship Candidate, as
a faithful party man.
Ishaku disclosed this in Jalingo when the campaign train of Secondus
paid him a courtesy visit.
He said the candidate had remained in the party and contributed to its
development, even during crises periods.
“ You have all the while remained in this party; I don’t think you
have held any political position”
“ You have been a faithful party man”, Ishaku said.
The governor, however, said he would maintain neutrality in
discharging his duty as the deputy chairman of the convention
He urged party loyalists in the state to use their good conscience and
vote for the most competent chairmanship candidate in the Dec 9
Earlier, Secondus said, if elected, he would ensure that powers of the
party were decentralized to its state chapters.
“ One of the first things to do is to return the party back to the
people; and one way to do this is to decentralize power to the states.
“ Let the state chairman, his executives and the LGA be able to take
their decisions at the Chapters’ level not in Wadata Plaza.
“ It will never happen in my time that state decisions will be taken
in Abuja,” the candidate stressed.
Secondus was accompanied by Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, former Deputy Speaker,
House of Representatives, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, former governor of
Adamawa, among others.
