Pre-Census Exercise: NPC Commissioner Commends Akwa Ibom

National Population Commission (NPC) Federal Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ben Ukpong has commended the pre-census exercise in the state, saying, without the exercise would have been marred with series of difficulties without the state government support in creating enabling environments.
Ukpong said the state government having hosted the 1st and 3rd phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) exercises in Oron and Nsit Ibom respectively, has been exemplary in its support to the programme.
He spoke when the Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel on Political and Legislative Affairs and Water resources, Mr. Ekong Sampson visited the commission’s base at Esit Eket local government area of the state.
According to Ukpong, the commission planned to replicate the exercise in the remaining 29 local government areas of the state soon.
In his comment, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs, and Water Resources, Mr. Ekong Sampson, said the manner in which the phase 111 EAD exercise of the programme had been conducted in the state was an indication that Nigeria was beginning to get things right.
According to him, the governor was impressed at the state-centered commitment the Federal Commissioner had shown towards the judicious performance of the exercise in the state and described it as a demonstration of patriotism and selfless service. He noted that the exercise was in compliance with the required standards.
“With accurate data, government will be able to plan its activities, prepare budgets based on the actual number of people that are present in the state at any particular time.
