Poor Storage: ‘Plateau losing 1,000 Tonnes Of Tomato Annually’

It has been estimated that Plateau State is losing over 1,000 tones of tomatoes annually due to lack of storage facility.
The state chairman of the tomatoes farmers,  Alhaji Yahaya Yunusa‎ Chagalinku made this known during an interview with our correspondent who is currently investigating quantum of the loses during every farming season.
 According to him, tomato farmers in the state are losing greatly due to the complete non availability of storage system. 
 He called on the federal and plateau state government to come to assistance in the market by providing them with the storage facilities in order to save the annual loses recorded by foamers in the state.  
 On the Tomato ebola that ravaged a lot of farms in the state, the chairman said the disease is now over but that many farmers are yet to recover from the havoc wrecked.
Chagalinku stated that tomato ‎farmers in Plateau State suffered severe loses because of the disease. 
 He called on Plateau State Government to reconstruct the market so that it will ease the hardship faced by the people.  
The chairman maintained that marketers and customers in the state are facing difficulties especially during rainy season due to bad roads and facilities in the market.
