Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Joseph Adeniyi Olowofela has hinted that no fewer than 2,000 graduate primary school teachers are to be redeployed to secondary schools in the state.
Professor Olowofela who dropped this hint in Ibadan disclosed that the re-deployment was part of the ongoing schools’ reform embarked upon by the state government .
The Commissioner stated that “the objective is to optimize output and ensure efficiency in the education sector in and across the state, adding that the redeployment would affect all the state primary and secondary schools .
“What the government want to achieve is efficiency to optimise output and to  restructure  workforce  to enhance efficiency and productivity in the education sector”, he said.
New Nigerian learnt that the fresh redeployment in the state schools was part of the report of the committee of stakeholders set up by the state government last year following the protests in May over  alleged plans by the government to sell schools.
It will be recalled that Oyo state government recently released a white paper on its education reform to addressed the perceived rot in the education sector with each public school to get a school Governing Board(SGB) that would oversee the smooth running of the school.
Also, in addition to the SGB, other recommendation of the committee adopted by government include classification of the schools into five, restructuring of education agencies for effective interaction and information management, adoption of schools by willing partners, equitable distribution of teachers, improvement of quality assurance and implementation of Education Trust Fund(ETF).
