Ogun Info Ministry to spend N594 m in 2013

The Ogun state Ministry of Information and Strategy is proposing to spend the sum of N594.1m next year, Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Yusuph Olaniyonu has revealed.
Olaniyonu made this known yesterday while defending the Ministry’s 2013 budget before the State’s House of Assembly’s Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
According to him, the sum of N578.1m representing 87.21% is to be expended on recurrent matters, while N76.1m or 12.79% of the budget is earmarked for capital expenditure.
Alhaji Olaniyonu stated that the Ministry proposed to purchase 56 sets of Computers, seven digital D90 cameras as well as six sunny 25 video cameras in year 2013 to further enhance its efficiency and productivity.
He said the sum of over N20m had been earmarked for the purchase and refurbishment of motor vehicles, adding that three additional Public Address Equipment vans at a cost of N7.5m would be purchased.
The Commissioner explained that the policy thrust of his Ministry was to continue serving as the channel for a two-way communication between the government and the governed, adding that it was also was saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing the citizenry on government policies and programmes, monitor and inspect any outdoor structure as well as verify and ensure compliance of high
quality broadcast content in terms of news and programmes for the positive development of the State.
Barrister Olaniyonu assured that in the coming year, the Ministry would take necessary steps to improve on its services and performance as the public relation agency to various agencies of government.
“The Ministry would help re-position the State to return it to its old glory through re-awakening of the people to embrace the State’s core values” the Commissioner said.
