Pene da Bwatiye (Association of Bwatiye people), has accused the
Federal Government for failing to protect the lives and property of
its citizens in Numan, Demsa and Lamurde Local Government Council of
The group who made the accusation on Thursday at the N.U.J. Press
Centre, said the Nigerian government has failed to protect them against
foreign invaders working in cahoots with their Nigerian sponsors.
They also called for the suspension of three prominent traditional
rulers in the country for the role they played in the carnage that
took place on Monday 4 December in Numan, Demsa and Lamurde local
The rulers are the Sultan of Sokoto,Abubakar Sa’ad, the Emir of Kano
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the Lamido of Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Aliyu
The Bwatiye accused the traditional rulers of using the occasion of
the commissioning of the Pulaaku Radio ( a Fulfulde radio station) to
unleash their foreign dogs of war on the Bwatiye people..
Spokesperson of the group Grffith Kpakai, said these traditional
rulers are not above the law, hence government should suspend them and
investigate the role they played in the invasion of the bwatiye land
by the killer herdsmen.
Kpakai disclosed that the bwatiye nation has repeatedly been the
target of coordinated attacks resulting to brutal killings, rape,
arson by Fulani gunmen and their mercenaries.
“It is increasingly clear that there is a programme to humiliate or
at least subjugate the Bwatiye nation, this has been confirmed by the
skirmishes in Koh, Kodomon, Kwayime and several Bwatiye communities in
the past”, The spoke person affirmed.
He said the random killings by herdsmen bearing advance military
hardware including AK 47 sub-machine guns, rocket propelled grenades
etc, have been noticed in increasing number indicative that it
involves conspiracy of highly technical people that are perpetrating
conflict in the area.
“ More astonishing is the fact that a military aircraft carried out
air raid on innocent villagers in their homes and environs”, Kpakai
The Association said the perennial conflicts between herdsmen and
farmers have become a plague on the nation and its unity.
In their words, “The herdsmen have become arrogant, audacious and full
of impurity having regard to the apparent license they have from the
government to kill at will and to step this clashes, we demand the
passage of an anti-grazing law in Adamawa State”.
The Bwatiye people who tagged the recent conflict as “Bachama Fulani
clash”, further demanded that government should institute a judicial
panel of inquiry and implement to the letter all recommendations made
by the panel.
“We also condemn in unequivocal term, the threat made by the Brigade
Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade and the Commissioner of Police to
deal with the Chairman of Numan LGA for speaking the truth about the
paucity of troops on ground”, says Kpakai.
They called for the redeployment of the Brigade Commander and the
Commissioner of Police from their Commands.
The Bwatiyes did not spare the Commissioner for Information Comrade
Ahmed Sajoh who they want sacked for alleged aiding the propagation
of falsehood by going on a national television to downplay the extend
