NCCE Football Opener: Hosts Zaria Thrash Eha-Amufu 4-0



Federal College of Education Zaria thrash Federal College of Education Eha- Amufu Enugu 4-0 in the opening match of the 1st Executive Secretary National Commission for Colleges Education (NCCE) Football competition at FCE Zaria sports complex at the weekend.

The host opened scoring in the 18th minutes of the game when Umar Garba beautifully converted a free kick and AbdulAzeez Ishaq scored the second goal for the host in the 25th minutes while Ibrahim Kubau scored the third goal in the 40th minutes of the match and in the 85th minutes Mansur Hashimu complete the rampage to end the match with 4 -0.

Declaring the competition open the Chairman Local Organising Committee and Director Personnel Management NCCE Mrs J F Suleiman said the competition is organised to promote unity, synergy, friendship and cultural exchange among staff of Colleges of Education and staff of NCCE.

According to her the game is to develop a catalyst for mental and physical fitness of staff of the Commission and that of the colleges as well it will stimulate and engage staff in useful exercise.

The LOC Chairman also said, the game will create and promote an enlarged forum where members of the Commission will associate with staff of the Colleges of Education.

She said the competition being the first edition covers only Football far male staffers and in the subsequent ones will be extended to states, private Colleges of Education and institutions awarding NCE.

Earlier in his welcome address the Provost FCE Zaria Dr. Ango Abdullahi Ladan said the college has made adequate preparations to ensure a hitch free competition.

Dr. Ladan added that FCE Zaria being the first college of education in Nigeria, is known for its passion for sports has participated in sports competitions at various lwvel s and Won laurels.

He said it is this unquenchable love for sports and what it has to show for it over many years that has made FCE Zaria an ideal institution to host the maiden edition of the Executive Secretary Football competition.
