National Youth Games: Ondo Takes Early Lead On Medals Table As More Teams Arrive

As activities hot up at the 3rd edition of the National Youth Games ongoing at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Ondo State has taken a surprise lead on the medals table.

Team Ondo has garnered a total of seven medals comprising three gold, three silver and one bronze.
Bauchi State is placed second on the table with one gold medal, while favourites, Delta are third with one silver, one bronze.
Akwa Ibom is following on the fourth spot with two bronze medals, while Bayelsa and Oyo are tied on the fifth position with one bronze apiece.
Meanwhile, more states arrived for the youth games and are registering their athletes and officials.
One of the states, Plateau, our correspondent gathered, spent two days on the road after they were delayed at a particular spot while traveling due to blockade resulting from a trailer that crashed.
Activities that will take place on Monday include athletics, wrestling, table tennis, judo, swimming and boxing.
Some activities held on Sunday are cycling, judo, chess, weightlifting, cricket and swimming.
