Nasarawa gets new chiefdoms

Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura  has approved the affirmation and creation of some new chiefdoms with Chun Mada of 1st Class Status based in Akwanga town while Nunku and Ngah Chiefdoms all of second class status have headquarters at Nunku and Rinze respectively.
The Secretary to the State Government, Hamza Elayo in a statement made available to newsmen in lafia said the Governors action was in accordance to his powers under the Nasarawa State Local Government Law 2009 (as amended),The Chiefs Appointment and Deposition Law of Northern Nigeria.
Others are of third class status namely, Yakanajie Chiefdom in Uke, Tunga Chiefdom InTunga, Gurku Chiefdom in Gurku, Ara Chiefdom in Ara, Ribi Chiefdomi n Ribi, Adogi Chiefdom in Adogi and Kadarko Chiefdom in Kadarko.
Consequently, the governor has approved the upgrading of the serving District Heads of Uke,Tunga,Gurku,Ara, Ribi, Adogi and Kadarko, as pioneer Chiefs, as the case maybe, of their respective Chiefdoms.
According to the statement, the Governor has  further directed that the Chiefdoms so created be submitted to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in line with the requirements of Sections 52-54 of the Nasarawa State Local Government Law 2009 (as amended) for legislative action to complete the process.
Governor Umaru Tanko congratulated the benefitting communities and express the hope they will justify their creation by promoting peace and harmonious coexistence of their people.
