Nasarawa gets 30 megawatts solar plant

Nasarawa state government yesterday met with a delegation from the Nigeria-Germany Energy Partnership with a view to building a 30 mega watt solar energy plant in the state.
The vice president of RECA, a German based energy company, who spoke on behalf of the delegation Karim Megherbi said already the governments Katsina, Kano and Bauchi states have already benefited from the partnership.
According to him, his firm is ready to provide the finance, take care of all the legal aspects involved in the partnership as well as oversee that everything is done according to international standards and on time.
Responding Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura said, for long the government has been seeking for a credible partner to work with in this regards adding that we shall collaborate and ensure the best for our people
He said, in view of the proximity of the state to FCT, there is the need to jerk up the project to 100 mega watts because of the economic and commercial potentials of the project.
While assuring his administrations readiness to see to the fruition of the project, Almakura promised to study the  MoU and see in what aspect the state will partner with the company.
New Nigerian reports that the delegation later presented some documents and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) relating to the partnership for the  governor to study.
Among the delegations werethe Chief Executive Officer, Green Energy Network,
Engr. Abdulkadir Safana, who is also the project consultant.

…Also 3 new specialist hospitals

Nasarawa state government has signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of three specialist hospitals in Lafia, Akwanga and Nasarawa towns.
Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura who disclosed this when he received the National Exco of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA in Lafia noted that the hospitals shall come to be by the end of next year.
According to him, the need for such hospital become imperative in view of the over streching the facilities of the only existing Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital in Lafia saying that we must support it to carter better for our citizens’
He said, arrangement have also been concluded with the Nigeria University Commission NUC for the state university to commence the operation of faculty of Medicine in which in the next five years a teaching hospital shall commence operation to carter for both the students and patients.
‘’ We have embarked on rehabilitation and expansion of our various Primary Health Care facilities across the state to cater for the local populace. This was in tandem to our strive to re position the health sector for growth and development’ he said.
Ealier, the President NMA, Dr. Osahon Enabulele said they were in the state for the national executive council meeting of the association and deemed it fit to visit and congratulate the governor over his giant strides in security, road construction,health amongst others.
He said, the state NMA has been having a cordial working relationship with the administration saying that we are ready to work with you to re position the health sector of the state.
While commending the governor for his believe in Nigerian Doctors, Enabulele stressed the need for interest free loans in the health sector which will go a long way in improving services like what is obtained in India and other advance countries.
