As the 3rd edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) ongoing at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State progresses, Team Kaduna’s medals prospects further brightened on Monday, as several of its athletes won more games.
In Tennis, female representative Favour won her first and second games convincingly, with the feat placing her as a favourite for the gold medal.
The state’s female cricket team also won both opponents they have played, including the Delta Team which came out hot.
Kaduna’s male cricket team, also won its first game and is upbeat ahead of the second, coming up on Tuesday.
Speaking to newsmen, the state’s head coach of cricket, Mr. Oche Onoja expressed confidence in his players
He explained that the Chairman of Kaduna Cricket Association, Professor Yahaya Ukwenya had motivated the team ahead of the Games
“He sponsored 10 extra players to the Games, which is a good development,” he added
Onoja however, lamented that states like Edo and Delta registered 14 players each which is an advantage to their teams, while Kaduna was only able to record 10.
