KSHA laments non remittance of taxes by federal agencies
By; SAMSON YAKI, Kaduna.
Kaduna State House of Assembly has decried the non remittance of taxes by federal ministries and some organizations operating in the state.
This was contained in a motion sponsored by Hon Aminu Abdullahi Shagali representing Sabon Gari constituency in the State House of Assembly Wednesday.
He said that only local and state government salary earners pay taxes while others do not remit their taxes to the state government. He urged the state government to investigate why federal ministries and other organizations operating in the state do not remit their taxes.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Kaura constituency, Bityong Yakubu Nkom advised that aside looking into taxes from those organizations, the state should go back to base to revisit other revenue generating sources neglected over time.
He said that an investigation should be carried out to determine how much money is involved to determine how much the state has lost over time. Kantiyong also urged organizations operating in the state to carryout corporate social responsibilities by providing certain services to their host communities.
On his part, Honourable Markus Zarmai Yari representing Chikun constituency, appealed to the organizations whose by-products are hazardous to try as much as possible to ensure the safety of their host communities.
The issue has been referred to the House Committee on Finance which is billed to commence sitting on Wednesday, 16th December 2015.
