KDSG to ensure proper management of sporting facilities – Danauta
By; Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Kaduna.
Kaduna State Government will put everything in place in ensuringthat its sporting facilities are properly managed and maintained.
Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Honourable Daniel Danauta gave the assurance while fielding questions from newsmen during the closing ceremony of the National Open Handball Tournament in Kaduna at the weekend.
“This tournament has exposed us to other areas of needs with the facility management. We will make sure the facilities are well attended to,” he said.
He may have indirectly reacted to a question he refused to answer on why the final that was earlier billed for the indoor sports hall where there would have been adequate lighting was relocated to the outdoor courts, where the absence of lighting almost marred the final match between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) male teams.
Though he refused to comment on the development, it was obvious that he was uncomfortable when the question was asked. The final had to be relocated because the hall was rented out for a wedding reception.
On the benefits of hosting the championship for the state, he said that it was a good exposure for its teams. “It would go a long way in not just boosting of the game of handball in the state, but also added an angle of the challenges we have in development of sports in the state,” he  admitted.
