As the readmission of former Governor of Abia state Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu into the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) occupies the centre stage in the political discussions in Nigeria, the Abia State Chairman of the party has said the decision not to allow Kalu into the party is irrevocable.
Briefing journalist in his office in Umuahia at the weekend, the state chairman of the Party Senator Emma Nwaka said the decision not to readmit the former governor of the state was the collective decision of Abia PDP members.
He said that the party stakeholders in the state had made their position known to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja last week.
The PDP boss recounted the negative roles Kalu played when he was in the party and vowed not to bring him in again for reasons of peace.
“The Abia PDP would not want to go back to inglorious past that pushed the state to an unpopular path that dragged us back. Now that the leader of the party and governor of Abia State Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji has reconciled and bring back Abia political class together, readmitting Orji Uzor Kalu is seeking for problem because division would come in again”.
“Nobody is afraid of him like many are insinuating. Even though there is free association where anybody can belong yet the associations is not compelled to bring in any enemy that will come and destroy the association. The Abia PDP must know who to admit. He has no integrity and he is free to float his personal party”, he said.
On the security of the nation, Senator Nwaka said, “it is nothing to play politics adding that, “Nobody can play politics with the security of the nation and no crisis ends without dialogue. The federal government should meet the Boko Haram kingpin in a round table and discuss to know their problems and solution proffered”.
According to the state chairman, the South East PDP is working assiduously to see that a state is created in the zone. “The zone has five states while others have six and seven and to make for equity additional state in the south east is imperative. We are on it and we must achieve it” he assured.
It would be recalled that the Bende Local Government Area PDP, the Local Government of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu met and took a decision not to allow him back into the party and a communiqué issued and published in the national newspapers.
