The Kaduna State Independent Election Commission (SIECOM) has said that none of the 23 Local Government Council; election conducted across the state on Saturday was cancelled.
This is contained in a statement signed by the SIECOM commissioner in-charge of Information and Public Affairs, Abdulkadir Aliyu Dewu and made available to journalists in Zaria on Tuesday.
It stated  that none of the commissioners or any official of SIECOM has the power to cancel election.
The statement noted that election was conducted peacefully in Soba local government but that the problem of disappearance of result sheet surfaced.
“This problem led to the suspension of the announcement of the election result, not cancellation of the entire election as carried by some media houses (not New Nigerian).
“This problem was later solved and result was formally announced by the Returning Officer in the area as stipulated by the law governing the SIECOM.
“SIECOM categorically declared that Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai is the duly elected chairman of Soba local government having satisfied all requirements of the law,” it added.
In a related development, the commission has announced the postponement of Godogodo ward election in a local government area and new date for the election would be announced in due course.
