The Management of Kaduna Electric has appealed to its customers to settle all their outstanding electricity bills as the Company has commenced the disconnection of defaulters.
The call was made by the Chief Operating Officer of the Company, Mr. Major Bhaskar while inaugurating a Special Task Force charged with responsibility of identifying and disconnecting defaulting electricity users in Kaduna yesterday.
A press statement issued by the Team Lead, Media and Community Relations of the Company, Idris Muhammad quoted Mr. Major as saying that the exercise is to ensure that all electricity users live up to their responsibility.
“As you all know, we have obligations to the nation’s electricity market, other participants in the Nigerian electricity supply industry are looking up to us to settle our bills, we must therefore ensure that the customers settle their bills to enable us meet our obligations to the market,” he stated.
He charged members of the Task Force to conduct themselves with all civility and in compliance with the industry’s best practice in their dealings with the customers while at the same time ensuring that all defaulters are fished out and disconnected.
According to the statement, the decision to constitute the Task Force was born out of the fact that the Company is only collecting about 30% of the cost of energy supplied to it by the transmission Company due customers’ nonchalant attitude towards settlement of electricity bills.
