Jos Calm after Guber Verdict; Lalong Extends Oliver Branch to Opponents

Despite the looming fear and anxiety created by the impending judgment of the Plateau State gubernatorial election tribunal, no threat to the fragile security situation as the state remains calm after the judgment that upheld the election of Governor Simon Bako Lalong of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
A cross Section of Jos residents who spoke with New Nigerian lauded the judgment saying that it met with the political desire and aspiration for a radical change in the state divided along religious line by the immediate past regime.
Meanwhile, the Governor has extended olive branch to his political opponents, asking them to come on board, join hands with him to move the state forward and restore it lost glory of being the state of peace and tourism, and the “Rescue Team in its divine mission to salvage Plateau State”.
Describing his victory at the tribunal as “an affirmation of the triumph of the people’s will and collective resolved”, in a statement signed by Mr. Mark Longyen, Special Assistant Media and Publicity, “government would like to call on all the peace loving people of Plateau State to put behind them the distraction of politics and join hands with the Lalong administration in order for them to reap the dividends of democracy that are encapsulated in its 5-Point Policy Thrust”.
The Governor dedicated the victory to the entire people of Plateau State, whom he said “had endured eight years of unprecedented civilian dictatorship and are now yearning for change and massively voted for the desired change, which has now come to stay”.
The statement thanked the security agencies and the entire people of the state for ensuring a smooth judicial process, which re-affirmed the governor’s victory.
