Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari said on Friday that the Federal Government deserved the support of all Nigerians in efforts to bring down the current tension in the South East region.
Accordingly, the governor said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the Boko Haram mistake was not repeated.
According to him, the failure to address the Boko Haram insurgency and nip it in the board was what brought about the escalation of the crisis and its attendant consequences.
He said, however, that as the chief security officer of the state, he had put measures in place to ensure security of lives and property of all Nigerians in Katsina state regardless of their regions and states of origin.
Governor Masari spoke to State House correspondents after observing the Jumaat prayer at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
His words: “As regards the tension in the country, we in Katsina state have put in necessary measures to ensure that the people living in the state irrespective of where they come from, their safety, their lives and their properties.
“On the general note on what is going on in the country, I think there is need for Nigerians to be very responsible in terms of dealing with issues of this kind in this country.
“When we heard the problem of Boko Haram in this country when it started we all looked the other way and it nearly consumed the nation. So under this circumstances any agitation that is likely to lead the nation to the kind of problem we had, I think all Nigerians should support the government and put a stop to it.”
