Imo reduces Ministries from 22 to 13

In line with present economic reality of the country, Imo State Government has pruned down it’s ministries from twenty two to thirteen to enable it provide good governance to the people of the state.
A statement signed by Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha explained that the essence of pruning down the ministries was to enable the administration render dividends of democracy to the people.
It explained also that the bad economic situation in the state informed the decision of the administration to bring down the number of ministries to the minimum.
The statement explained further that the decision to prune down the ministries was taken at a joint meeting with the state governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, top government officials and Permanent Secretaries in Owerri recently.
According to the statement, the meeting x-rayed all the existing ministries, their challenges and functions before arriving at the decision. The statement said the meeting further resolved that the Permanent Secretaries in the affected ministries and their staff will be redeployed to other ministries.
It assured that the pruning down of the ministries would not lead to down-sizing of the state workforce pointing out that the twelve ministries left to function, would have blue print on how to function and make them viable.
The statement stated that with this development, it means that some ministries would be merged to arrive at the thirteen ministries.
