By; VICTOR DURUAMAKU, Owerri

Former Minister of Interior, in the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho said that Imo State Government is currently operating a dead economy, leaving many unemployed graduates roaming the streets in the state.

Speaking with journalists in his country home, Ihenecho wondered why people of the state, should be crying of bad economy, when in the actual sense there is no economy at all.

The former Minister questioned “how can we talk of economy when there is no manufacturing companies, no other industries, to produce anything in the state”.

According to him, the number of professionals and unemployed graduates in the state should have been of advantage to the state as it is in other countries.

The former minister, who in the last general elections contested the governorship election in the state, under All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), explained that the state of the state’s economy informed his decision to contest the said election.

He asserted that he threw his heart into the election believing that he would have the opportunity to provide employment and empowerment for the teaming unemployed young people in the state.

The former minister said that he would have brought his wealth of experience and contact to help resuscitate the state’s economy.

As his personnel contribution to the boosting of the state economy, he said he would invest massively in the state to help the unemployed youths.
