Senator Shehu Sani has donated two million naira (N2M) to the friends of New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN) Club as a means of immortalising the legacies of the company and promised that the club would come up with plans to sponsor secondary education of fifty members of the club annually.

Sani made this declaration Saturday in Kaduna while hosting the members of the club and some NNN staff at Hamdala Hotels, Kaduna.
The NNN Friends Club comprises of the children of staff of the organisation most of whom grew up together in the company quarters from inception of the organisation to date.
Sani who decried what has befallen the foremost Northern based Newspaper organisation said the story of NNN is the story of Nigeria; the paper rose when Nigeria did and fell when the country did. He stressed that the same story is obtainable with other organisations established by the founding fathers and at the same period.
The Senator said the organization may have crumbled, but they are poised to keep it alive as part of their souls as beneficiaries of the golden age when their parents worked honestly and raised them from their honest earnings from the organisation.
Redeeming the company would have been easier if it was still in the ownership of the Federal Government as he can intervene as a Senator of the Federal Republic Sani said, but with the nineteen Northern States it is a bit difficult. He however promised to interface between the club executive and chairman of the northern states governors chairman, Kashim Shettima of Borno State to ensure the company receives better attention.
Earlier in her speech, the chairperson of the club, Mrs Lydia Audu Zuru paid tributes to the staff of the the NNN from inception to date who ensured that the legacies of Sir Ahmadu Bello is not allowed to crumble completely.
She extolled the effort of Senator Shehu Sani in ensuring the club is kept afloat and children of the staff keep in touch to maintain and sustain their relationship even after parting and leaving in different parts of the nation and beyond.
The meeting saw comments and contributions from members of the club and a tour of the company which saw some members nostalgic.
Senator Shehu Sani’s father was a staff of the organisation rising to the position of Production Editor before retirement. Same with Sam Nda-Isaiah; publisher of Leadership Newspapers whose father rose to the position of Sport Editor.
