After guiding her team to gain promotion to the Nation Wide Division1 League, proprietress/ Chief Coach of Good Land Rangers FC of Lagos, Jumai Otache has declared that she has what it takes to handle the Super Falcons.
In an exclusive interview with New Nigerian Sports, Otache who is the only female coach that handled a male team in the just concluded National Division 2 League, noted that if given the opportunity to handle the female national team, she will use her wealth of experience to re-position the team and win laurels for the country.
‘ I want to tell you that like every other coach, I’m ambitious and if given the opportunity to handle the Super Falcons, I will use my wealth of experience to re-position the team, install discipline in the team and win laurels for the club”, stated the former Super Falcons midfielder who was among the coaches shortlisted to handle the national team.
On her challenges handling a male team, the one time Ufuoma Babes and Pelican Stars play maker stated that she never faced any pressure positing that football does not know gender.
“What people should know is that football does not know gender. What’s important is for you to have a vision and now where you’re going to and you will get to your destination.Yhe initial problem I had was players accepting a female and whether I can do the job or not but when they discovered I was being professional with the job, they all keyed to my vision which made my job easy,” she said.
On her team’s target the Benue State born tactician explained that her target is to lead the team to the Nigeria Professional League which she described as achievable.
“Our target is NPFL; and we are two steps closer to it. We’ve already started preparations for the 2018 season where we hope to not only do well but surpass our achievement in the 2017 season,” she stated.
Otache while commending Global Impact Church and other organization for extending financial help to the team, noted that Good Land Rangers is in business and will be ready to partner any corporate organization that supports their vision.
