FG  Masterminding Poor Standards Of Education – Parents

The Federal Ministry of Education has been accused for being the brain behind poor standards of education bedeviling the nation’s education sector.
The Chairman Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Innovative Heritage Academy Kabayi in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State Mr Christopher Akagbosu made this accusation during the maiden inter-house sports competition organized by the school.

Akagbosu stressed that government has automatically turned deaf ears on public schools thereby paving way for private schools to exploits the unfortunate situation in the sector.

 The aggrieved PTA chairman decried the decay in public schools lamenting a dearth  lack  of facilities in most public schools which  need urgent attention.
“If you go to government schools today you will find no classroom but money is allocated to manage the schools”, he added.

Earlier the Director of the institution Mr. Godwin Oladejobi had maintained that the causes of low standard in the nation’s education sector are numerous  which include inconsistent of government policies both at the federal, state and local levels.
According to him, in as much as  government is to be blame, parents also have their own share of the blame as they have the attitude of not paying their children’s school fees as at when due, as they believe in ‘teach them on credit’.
Oladejobi also described attitude of ‘easy entrance and easy exist’ syndrome of teachers as detrimental to any nation’s education sector.

The former bank director appealed to the government at all levels to carry National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPP’S) along when enacting a policy that has to do with education.
He further disclosed that government and private schools owners are partner in progress as 70% of education given to Nigerian citizens are from the private sector.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal of the school Mr. Agbenin Joseph expressed gratitude to God for allowing the long awaited day to come, as he described sporting activities to be beneficial  especially to youth development and redirection of their energy for physical alertness and attentiveness to studies.
