A 24yr old fake Sheikh identified as Omoniyi Ajibade Saheed is now in the net of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office over alleged N11million internet scam.
According to EFCC, Omoniyi has been allegedly impersonating a popular Lagos based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh, Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa on the internet using the Sheikh’s identity to seek donations from the unsuspecting followers of the Sheikh.
Omoniyi was said to have ran out of luck on Monday while on his way to the bank to withdraw a sum of N1million which was his latest “inflow” from his fraudulent activity.
Sheikh, Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa was said to have petitioned the Commission on getting wind of activities of the 24yr old impersonator which finally led to his being arrested by operatives of EFCC on his way to the bank.
EFCC in the statement added that the 24yr old suspect who hails from Offa in Kwara state has made confessional statement to the operatives of the commission and that he would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded”.
