Environmental Health Officer Registration Council of Nigeria has embarked on a three-day training programme aimed at equipping officers with new strategies on environmental control and regulations in the country which has commenced in Kaduna.
Chief Registrar of the council, Dr. Dominic Ujabo Abonji said the training was part of the council’s mandate aimed at building capacity of environmental health workers with a view to ensuring healthy environment in the country.
Also speaking, the Head of Education and Training, Dr. Yakubu Bala said the country is facing Various contemporary environmental challenges that are detrimental to the well being of the society.
He stressed that, some of the emerging challenges include global warming, desert encroachment as well as flooding among others.
Dr. Bala regretted that some diseases find their ways into the country do to lack of effective measures guiding the practice of the profession.
