The crises in the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) is still a festering wound even as it takes new, high-wired technology dimension in scheming and cloning signatures of members of the warring factions in the power feud.
Against claims by the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) that 23 state Chairmen met and endorsed his leadership, Niger state Chairman of the party, Barrister Tanko Beji has alleged that his signature was forged by the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff camp to add stolen credit to it’s claim. The party Chairman cried foul in a statement made available to newsmen in Minna where he among other things raised a disclaimer to the use of his name and signature by the belligerent Sheriff’s camp saying at no time did he attended the said meeting less of agreeing to sign the said document purportedly endorsing Senator Sheriff as the party’s National Chairman. The statement signed by Tanko Beji, expressed shock, dismay and anger over his link with the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff led faction insisting that he was not one of the 26 state chapter Chairmen who attended the meeting.
“At no time did i travel to Abuja for the said meeting and as such i could not have signed any document affirming Sheriff as the National Chairman of the party” the statement said. The angry Beji further said “i wish to state that i am not aware of the said meeting and was not in attendance at same”.
“The signature against my name is equally not mine”. “May be i should say someone forged the signature which they are claiming to have been signed by me”.“For the avoidance of doubt i remained committed to the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and I am in support of the appeal at the Supreme Court”, Barr. Beji said to clear his name and image as linked to the the meeting of the twenty six states chapters.
He called on members and supporters of the PDP in the state to discountenance the bogus claims by the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff camp.
“I want to advice the teeming supporters of the PDP across Niger state and Nigeria as a whole to disregard the publications claiming that i have endorsed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the PDP National Chairman”, the statement said.
