Buhari Summons Army, Air Chiefs

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai and his Air Force counterpart, Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique were on Tuesday summoned by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President met with the two service chiefs individually for over an hour behind closed-doors.
Emerging from the meeting, Buratai said he was in the Villa to update President Buhari on the security situation with respect to the involvement of the army and what was being done about it.
He said: “I visited the Commander-In-Chief to update him on the security situation that the army is involved and defending the territorial integrity of the country, the welfare of the troops, the state of our general administration; basically that is why I came.”
He further noted that the President was happy and satisfied with the activities of the military, adding that the army would not rest on its oars in the discharge of its mandate.
“The president is happy with the Nigerian army and the military. we will continue to do our work to defend the constitution of this country and we assured him of our absolute loyalty and ensure we discharge our constitutional responsibility,” Buratai submitted.
Also speaking with State House Correspondents, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique said on the party of the air force, everthing was being done to ensure a secured and stable nation.
His words: “It’s just a routine meeting. I came to brief the president on what is happening in the air force. He is the commander in chief and he has the right to meet with his  service chiefs.
“For us in the air force and for  all the services really, we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our society are secure and our communities are stable, so that people can go about pursuing their legitimate aspirations without any fear. That is the purpose for which the air force is established. That is why we are working to ensure that we do everything humanly possible to create such  an enabling environment because without security you cannot think of development, you are very familiar with the relationship between security and development and we are working round the clock to ensure that we provide the enabling environment for development.”
