Border crimes; Customs Boss seeks partnership with the Police
The Comptroller General of  Nigerian Custom and Excise, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) has sought the partnership of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in intelligence gathering, tackling border crimes and advancing the capacity of Nigerian Customs and Excise in realizing their core mandate.
According to a statement signed by Ag Acp Olabisi Kolawole, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the visiting Customs boss who was at the Force Headquarters with other senior officers, “used the occasion not only to renew their relationship, but also to seek Police partnership in the area of information sharing, tackling border-related crimes, smuggling and also on ways to improve on the revenue capacity drive of the Customs.
“This partnership is aimed at synergizing with the Nigerian Customs Service in tackling border crimes and advancing the capacity of Nigerian Customs and Excise in realizing their core mandate. The relationship became fruitful when the Comptroller-General of Customs paid a courtesy call on Nigeria Police leadership in Abuja.
“In his response, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon E. Arase fdc, NPM, promised to improve on the existing level of intelligence sharing with the Customs and to extend training opportunities to personnel of the Nigerian Customs and Excise towards building the capacity of Customs personnel as they strive to attain their mandate”.
