Farmers in Zaria as an alternative to the conventional fertilizers, have adopted the use of organic manure to nourish the soil for better yield of crops.
Following the importance attached to the manure by the local farmers, youth have taken advantage to make brisk business for themselves.c
New Nigerian correspondent in Zaria reports that most of the refuse dumps that are close to some homes and, roads have suddenly become gold mines as more as people turn them to a business ventures.
An investigation on this issue revealed that refuse dumps have become revenue earner because farmers now book for it at a certain amount agreed upon.
Some of the people that use their time to clear the wastes from the refuse dumps collect the manure and are making at least N20.000 or more daily, depending on the quantity they make.
This business has engaged many youth, with most of them describing it as self sustaining and a simple business venture.
Some farmers interviewed on why they resolved to use manure instead of fertilizer, said the manure is giving them the most needed yeilds and hygienic crops.
They expressed their hope on this measure and hoped that very soon farmers will return to use manure in their respective farms and avoid the continuous use of fertilizer which has negative effects on our soil.
