 From Habibu Umar Aminu, Lafia
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura deserves commendation from Nasarawa people over his exemplary ways of security issues and  not impeachment, commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning Sonny Agassi has said.
Speaking with newsmen in reactions to his Miligi ethnic group, which throws their weight behind the impeachment threat by the state house of assembly, Agassi noted that the steps taken by the governor has greatly calmed nerves which has brought back sanity to the trouble spots.
According to him, though the Migili pressure group has a right to their opinions, their actions shows, “they acted as if they are not informed about the governor’s extraordinary show of concern for the people of the state.”
“Besides, on that day Agyaragu was attacked, the governor was in Abuja. The next thing he did was to head back to Lafia, after he approved a visit by his deputy and cabinet members.
He personally supervised the mobilization of security personnel to the troubled spot, using phones. And displaced persons’’ he said
Agassi also explained that apart from the  visits, Almakura directed that I made visits, where we gave reliefs in terms of materials and cash. Pleases, such a governor deserves commendation, not condemnation from our youths, he added
He said the governors resolve to peaceful coexistence has been demonstrated severally saying that twice Almakura rushed out of Saudi Arabia-bound planes taking him for Hajj, turned back from federal government sponsored foreign trips; all of which came at period when certain communities were hit by violent crises.
