The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has commended medical doctors under the aegies of National Association of Medical and Dental Practitioners in the state for calling off their four weeks strike on Wednesday.
Akeredolu praised the doctors for their commitment to their duties, and assured them of his administration’s plan to meet their demands.
In a statement from the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, Akeredolu said he would not renege on his promise to move the state forward.
The governor, who sympathised with the doctors over their suffering, praised them for comporting themselves well even the industrial action lasted.
He reiterated on his promise not to owe workers in the state and their salaries would be paid regularly.
The doctors, who embarked on strike on February 6, 2017, over nonpayment of their salaries by the immediate past government, commended Akeredolu’s determination to make their welfare a priority.
The Chairman of doctor’s association, Dr. Ismaila Busari, hailed the governor’s intention and assured him of the union’s support.
Busari said but for the governor’s intervention, members of the Association would still have continued with the strike.
