Aisha Buhari to APC; Fulfill campaign promise, pay N5000 to unemployed youths

By; SUNDAY ODE, Abuja.

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Tuesday admonished the ruling All Progressives Party (APC)-led Federal Government  not to back down on its campaign promise to pay unemployed youth in the country N5000 each monthly.

She said the party in power should also make good its promise to provide one free meal to school children.

This was contained in a press statement issued Tuesday in Abuja by her Media Adviser, Adebisi  Olumide-Ajayi.

The statement which did not disclose the occasion where the President’s wife spoke also quoted her as saying the integrity of the party would be at stake if those campaign promises were not fulfilled.

She however urged Nigerians to be patient, noting that the change they voted for had come to stay.

Aisha Buhari’s plea may have been a direct appeal to the members of the ruling party in the Senate who recently rejected a motion on the subject matter to compel the Federal Government to commence payment of the said sum.

The APC Senators hinged their position on the dwindling economic fortunes of the nation in recent times as well as fears that the exact number of unemployed persons could not be ascertained in a hurry.

Aisha Buhari’s statement read: “The wife of the President, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari has appealed to the ruling party All Progressives Congress, (APC) not to renege on their campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians and giving school children one free meal a day.

“This comes after the Senators from the party voted against the senate moving a motion calling on the Presidency to pay the N5,000 allowance.

“Speaking further, Mrs Buhari said The APC is a party of integrity and had assured Nigerians during the campaign that it would pay 5,000 Naira each month to 25 million most vulnerable citizens.

“The wife of the president asked Nigerians to be patient with the APC government as the change they had been yearning for had come to stay.”
