Governor Theodore Orji has called on the sons and daughters of Abia both at home and abroad to return home and invest in the state.
He made the call in Abuja on Saturday at a town hall meeting with indigenes of Abia to celebrate the developmental strides in the state.
According to him, the issue of insecurity in the state is now a thing of the past.
“With the help of the military personnel who have established peace and stability in the state, home is now quiet and peaceful.”
The governor said that his administration had been able to address the imbalance in the state by embarking on projects such as road networks, electricity, agriculture, and health sector reform.
“We are on course to the promise land and have moved from the era of mediocrity. Bribery before employment is now a thing of the past.
“We will continue to give appointments to those who merit it.”
He said the administration had also equipped 250 health centres across the state, adding that the education sector was now witnessing a progressive development.
“Abia is now performing in international competitions, while skills acquisition and youth empowerment programmes have been put in place, with 4,500 youths benefiting.”
In separate speeches, representatives of Abia North, South and Central, poured encomium on the governor “for doing well in the state.”
They said the governor had transformed the agriculture sector, road networks and security, which the indigenes were happy about.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three senators representing the state and other top government officials attended the meeting.
