Onukaba, Atofolaki: Journalists Defy Rain, Pay Tribute To Colleagues In Lagos

In spite heavy down pour in Lagos last Friday, who is who in journalism from across the country throng the Ladi LAWAL Center of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos council, Alausa to pay their last respect for the trio of the former, assistant secretary of the council and S/W Bureau Chief of New Nigerian Newspapers Limited, KAYODE ATOFOLAKE, DTN, Managing Director, Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo and newly inaugurated federated maritime chapel secretary, Segun Agbolade last Friday.
The candle/tribute nite organized by the Lagos Council under the leadership of Comrade, Deji Elumoye also called for prayers session said in both Christan and Muslim way for souls of the departed souls.
While past Chairmen, Secretaries, Elders and members of the council who also defied the heavy down pour on Friday joined to pay their last respect to their friends, brothers and colleagues who departed this world within a space of two weeks.
In attendant were the former chairman of the council now Press secretary to the KWARA Governor, Alhaji WAHAB OBA, former, chairman and one time Daily Times Editor, Dele Odebiyi, lanre Arogundade to mention but a few. In his remarks, OBA extols the departed souls particularly Kayode ATOFOLAKE who he described as a professional to the core.
He then urged us to leave and work towards heaven. After which he gave the sum of N100,000 to support the family. As well as supporting the council Insurance scheme with the sum of N250,000. Others pledged to support the late families accordingly.
