Hard fighting Citrine House finished second with 312 points, Emerald placed third with 288 points and Ruby House settled for the fourth position with 274 points.

In the highly entertaining cheer leading contest which attracted cash prizes, Citrine House scored  to lead the pack.

Sapphire House trailed behind at the second position, while Emerald House and Ruby House finished third and fourth respectively.

In an interview with newsmen after the presentation of medals and trophies to the winners, Executive Director of Cavendish International Schools, Mrs. Khadijah Aliyu said that children should be groomed morally and physically for them to excel in life.

“We are here for the children. We invest in them towards ensuring that they work harder at getting the desired results in whatever they do. The monetary rewards presented to them at this presentation ceremony was geared towards motivating them to work harder,” she said.

The Executive Director while speaking further, said that Cavendish School is known  to be outstanding in whatever it does, as well as a pacesetter in bringing up children that become natural leaders of their peers in all fields of endeavour.

She said the school for now comprises of early section and primary school, with its oldest pupil at the age of 11.

“We invest in sports because such activities help individuals to develop their self esteem,” she said.

Mrs. Aliyu therefore, urged parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to express themselves freely in areas where talents are spotted.

“If a  child is good in sports, he or she should be encouraged to express his or herself without hindrance, which may result to low self esteem,” she advised.

Also in an interview, Team Leader of the winning house, Mrs. Joan Oyekan said they were delighted they finished tops.

“Though this is the second time we are winning, last year we actually finished at the bottom of the table,” she disclosed.

She explained that they were able to have an edge over the others because they worked as a team.

“We worked as a team and supported each other. Though I was not an easy task, but we thank God that we are the winners,” she said.

Mrs. Oyekan expressed optimism that they would not relent on their efforts, but work harder to defend their pole position next inter-house sports.

High point was the presentation of trophies and prizes to those who distinguished themselves, as well as those who won the Invitational Schools’ Relay.
